Locally available leisure pursuits are angling, bird watching, cycling, karting, kite flying – bring your favourite with you, riding (available from the nearby equestrian centre), walking, hiking, water sports such as kayaking, surfing, swimming and windsurfing; there are also a couple of aquaparks.
Mountain biking is very popular and the cycle route along the Atlantic Road is being extended all the time – we have bikes available to hire at very reasonable rates.
Angling is more than popular here – the World Championships were held here in Portugal in September 2006. Estuary, fresh water and sea fishing are all within 5 – 25 minutes drive OR you can walk down to our local small river at the end of the lane.
Separate Permits/Licences are required for both freshwater and sea angling in Portugal;
We can apply for angling permits on your behalf if you advise us when making your reservation – the quite minimal cost to be paid upon your arrival.
Ornithology – this is an excellent area for bird watching, being located on the migratory routes and in a varied geographical area.
Eating Out – Those wishing for a more relaxed way to enjoy themselves can stay around the pool, terraces and garden; stroll along our local footpaths and riverside. Within easy walking distance you can find bars, cafés and pastelarias (pastry shops) where you can relax with a coffee, wine or a beer and perhaps eat a light snack (Petiscos). The bakeries have fresh hot bread all day, inc Sundays. Refer to the Eating Out Page for more detailed Information or our Wines page.
Sight Seeing – see some of the exciting places in Portugal we’ve been to and some of the beaches and rivers nearby.
